Quality Control of PET Bottles

The system for quality control of PET bottles is designed for analyzing PET bottles of various size and shape and identification of defects in a production process.

It is characteristic for PET bottle production lines, especially automatic production lines, to output quite a few defective products. The cause of these defects usually is low quality raw material or failures of equipment. Contemporary PET bottle production lines are extremely fast and completely automatic. Naturally, an increasing productivity comes at a price of decreased possibility to control the quality of products without taking additional measures for an efficient quality control. High velocity of product movement increases the number of defects that may occur because of it and makes quality control with the naked eye a mission impossible. In such a situation, the most reliable solution that would not reduce the efficiency of the line would be to use intelligent electronic technologies of visual data processing.

We offer a system for quality control of PET bottles which is based on an innovative image processing technology and is designed to monitor the production process accurately and objectively. Depending on the chosen package, this system has a capacity of analyzing up to 8 bottles per second. A unique image processing system is of compact dimensions and therefore can be easily installed in an existing equipment or other control points. Thanks to the intelligent lightning source built in the system and powerful image processing mechanism, the system is insensitive to ambient factors such as light, vibration, etc.

 

WORKING PRINCIPLE

The equipment installed on a PET bottle production line or beside it or at another desirable control point monitors PET bottles moving on a line and compares them with the reference product images saved beforehand. The system evaluates the quality of objects being monitored within a set and easily modifiable tolerance range. When a product with a substantial difference in shape or other defects exceeding the permissible tolerance range is detected, the system identifies it and transmits a signal for automatic removal of the said defective product. The system can also save images of defective products and provide them along with a thorough analysis of the production process quality.
